The King’s Lynn Youth Boxing Academy had two young fighters take to the ring at a show in Halstead at the weekend. The first fighter to climb into the ring was ‘Turbo’ Harrison Booth who was up against Tommy Breading from Canvey Island.Harrison boxed very well in the opening round, putting his opponent on the back foot and catching Breading with good clean shots with either hand. The second round saw the home fighter come out stronger but Booth, undeterred by this, was ready to trade and make his opponent miss and respond on the counter. In the third and final round, Booth carried on boxing well and he was rewarded with a unanimous decision from the judges.Next up was Maximus ‘the Gladiator’ Emmerson who found himself up against Freddy Bruton from mid-Essex.Emmerson went out strong and so did his opponent with both fighters catching each other, which resulted in a close round. The Lynn fighter listened to the advice given to him in his corner and started the second round much faster, forcing his opponent back on the ropes with a flurry of good shots coming from each hand. He continued the onslaught in the third and final round with some excellent straight punches forcing his Essex opponent back to the ropes. This resulted in a standing count and Emmerson didn’t waste any time going back on the attack.Bruton was given another standing count and the referee had seen enough, stopping the contest as Emmerson claimed a TKO victory. All of the Academy’s coaching team were delighted with the display of their two fighters.
