Lynn driver Carly takes chequered flag in charity race

There was a big night of racing at Lynn on Saturday when the 1300 stock cars, two-litre stock cars and bangers were all in action.It was a special night in the 1300 stock cars with Trackstar celebrating the 40+ year career of long-standing driver John Moat.There was a special race for the cars of yesteryear with “Moat’s Old Skool Throwback” which was won by Moat in a Vauxhall Nova first built for the 2004 season.In the modern cars, Garry Lusher was in the middle of the action throughout but had a disappointing night results-wise.Stockport’s Danny Dannis won two heats with Spalding’s Caine Parnell winning the third and World Champion Jabon Bromley from Canterbury won the final.The action in the two-litre stock cars started with a ladies’ race where the competitors did a wonderful job raising more than £7500 for Cancer Research.Lynn’s Carly List took the chequered flag in what was a very entertaining race. In the main meeting, Austen Freestone continued his good form with a fourth place in the opening heat. Spalding’s Tom Yould won the final.Kieran Bowman was also out in a hire car in the 2L stock cars where he put in a solid performance.Troy Cobbett put in a good display in the 2L Banger War of the World’s Team Competition as he placed in all his races with a second and fifth-place finish in his heats before coming in sixth place in the final. Ashley Garrod also placed in all three races as he helped the Dover Boys secure a top-three finish in both the race points and the entertainer points as the team came third in the former and first in the latter.Kieran Bowman’s Predator team had a good night being involved in the middle of the action and finished in second place in the entertainer points.Racing returns to Lynn on Saturday, July 6 (5pm) when it is the turn of the unlimited bangers to host their War of the Worlds team competition.Racing will also come from the F1 stock cars and F2 stock cars who will be in a special White & Yellow meeting.
