King’s Lynn Town have completed one of the transfer coups of the summer by bringing midfielder Michael Clunan back to the club.The arrival of Clunan, 31, from National League Scunthorpe is a real statement of intent from the Linnets, who have now signed 10 new faces over the close season.Clunan returns to The Walks for a second spell, having captained the Iron during their promotion last season.Lynn believe the former Norwich City youngster will play a pivotal part in a title tilt next term.The Lynn-born player helped his hometown side to two promotions during his previous spell.Arriving at Lynn back in 2015, Clunan made 356 appearances and scored 56 goals during an eight-year stay, which saw the club secure back-to-back promotions into the National League.He also experienced two seasons in the non-league top flight and was a standout performer during their short spell in the fifth tier. He left for pastures new with Scunthorpe in the summer of 2023, playing 81 times over two seasons for the north Lincolnshire outfit. When the midfielder walked onto the Attis Arena pitch for the first time in the summer of 2023, few could have predicted just how much his presence would transform the Iron.His performances last season earned him a spot on the divisional team of the season.He is regarded as a natural leader on and off the pitch, and bringing him back to Norfolk will be seen as a marquee signing as Lynn look to mount a serious promotion challenge.With Clunan’s leadership, experience, and connection to the club, fans will be hoping he can inspire another golden chapter in Lynn’s history.
