King’s Lynn Town 3 Marine 1King’s Lynn Town moved up to second in the National League North table by beating Marine 3-1 at The Walks.Second-half goals from Ross Crane and Josh Hmami saw Lynn over the line after Marine’s Joseph Mattock had cancelled out Tommy Hughes’ first-half-opener early in the second period. The win lifts Lynn up a place to second in the table – a point behind Kidderminster Harriers who recorded a 2-0 success at home to Warrington Town.Linnets boss Adam Lakeland was forced to go without a recognised striker with both Jonny Margetts and Gold Omotayo carrying knocks.Margetts was absent with a calf strain while Omotayo was ruled out with a hamstring issue as Lynn again used Hmami in a more advanced role against his former club. And it paid off just 10 minutes in as Hmami chased down a long ball before squaring the ball to Hughes to net from a few yards out. Lynn continued to dominate and it was Hughes who was the next player to open up the visiting defence, only for Finlay Barnes to steer his cross wide of the target. On the stroke of half-time, Kian Ronan cut the ball back from the byline but Hmami could only spoon his effort over the woodwork as Lynn took a one-goal lead into the break.Lynn were forced into a change at the start of the second half as Crane came on for Kyle Callan McFadden. It took the Mariners four minutes of the second half to get back on level terms after Joseph Mattock found a yard of space before drilling home the equaliser. Marine’s leveller was cruel on Lynn with it being their first real opportunity of the game, but Lakeland’s side responded in the best possible manner by regaining the lead nine minutes later.A lovely pass from Greg Taylor picked out Crane on the edge of the box and the wideman took one touch before firing past visiting shotstopper Matty Corran into the bottom corner. An ambitious half-volley from Barnes almost made it 3-1 while Hughes saw a long-range effort whistle over the woodwork in the final 10 minutes. The third eventually arrived deep in stoppage time as Hmami finished a move started by substitute Theo Williams.
