Linnets stretch unbeaten run to five games

King’s Lynn Town 0 Leamington 0King’s Lynn Town and Leamington fought out an entertaining goalless draw at The Walks as the Linnets stretched their unbeaten sequence to five matches.The visitors had the better of the first half but Adam Lakeland’s side were dominant after the interval without having a goal to show for their superiority.The King’s Lynn Town line-up showed two changes from the team that won 3-1 against Oxford City in midweek.With Josh Hmami ruled out with a quad injury, there was a recall for striker Gold Omotayo while midfielder Cody Johnson returned to the team at the expense of Sam Walker who dropped to the bench.Lynn came into the game unbeaten in four against a Leamington outfit who sat four points and four places behind them in the table.Henry Landers dragged an early effort wide for the visitors before delivering an excellent free-kick into the box a few minutes later which Callum Stewart headed over the woodwork. Lynn grew into the game and their first sight of goal came after 25 minutes as Finlay Barnes bent an effort wide of the target. Fifteen minutes before the break Edward Rowe did well to create a pocket of space before seeing his shot brilliantly saved by Boyes to his right.The hosts were forced into their first change in the 34th minute as Tommy Hughes limped off to be replaced by Walker.Leamington’s defenders put their bodies on the line to deny Lynn’s Ross Crane two bites of the cherry in the closing stages of the half, while the home side were relieved to see an effort from Stewart flash wide of the target in the next attack. Gold Omotayo saw his shot from a Barnes corner blocked early in the second period as Lynn began the half with much more intent.A moment of brilliance from Barnes almost led to the opening goal on the hour-mark but the winger saw his effort come back off the post with Leamington goalkeeper Callum Hawkins well beaten. Omotayo’s nod back from a Barnes corner led to another opportunity for the hosts, but Kyle Callan McFadden saw his header cleared off the line.McFadden was denied for a second time a few minutes later as Hawkins pulled off a brilliant diving save to his left to foil the Lynn defender.
