King’s Lynn Town 2 Darlington 1Ross Crane inspired a comeback with a goal and an assist as King’s Lynn Town rediscovered the winning thread at the Walks.Crane was on target 11 minutes from time after Tommy Hughes had cancelled out Jack Maskell’s opener for the Quakers as both goalkeepers played their parts in the first-half goals. It was a welcome three points for Adam Lakeland’s side who went into the game on the back of successive home defeats against Peterborough Sports and Curzon Ashton.Linnets boss Lakeland opted to make two changes to his starting XI as Josh Hmami and Tommy Hughes came in for Josh McCammon and Sam Walker. The home side’s first chance arrived after ten minutes as Ross Crane turned Toby Lees inside out before crossing for Hmami whose effort was parried away by Peter Jameson. It took the visitors four minutes to respond and take the lead as Jack Maskell’s effort from eight yards out squirmed under the body of Paul Jones in a rare mistake from the Lynn custodian. The goal led to an extended spell of pressure from the visitors who moved the ball quickly and with authority. Fourteen minutes before the break, Hmami put the ball on a plate for Greg Taylor from a corner, but Maskell cleared the defender’s header off the line. The equaliser arrived three minutes later as Crane robbed Lees of possession before crossing for Hughes, whose effort found a way under the body of Jameson as the Quakers defence was breached for the first time in seven league games.Lynn now had their tails up and Hmami curled a free-kick over the woodwork after Lees had fouled Hughes on the edge of the box. A Finlay Barnes shot was blocked and found its way through to Freddie Sass who was denied by a brilliant block from Will Hatfield. The Quakers were quick out the blocks at the start of the second half and a long ball picked out Matty Cornish who was unable to finish from an acute angle at the near post. Theo Williams replaced Gold Omotayo midway through the second half and within two minutes he had forced Jameson into a save from a tight angle.A poor clearance from Hmami fell to Darlington’s Andrew Nelson who was denied by the leg of Jones. It was yet another error that led to the third and final goal as a mix-up between Lees and Jameson allowed Crane to pick up the ball and tap into an empty net.King’s Lynn Town Jones, Sass, Taylor, Wilson, Crowe, Johnson, Hmami (McCammon 78), Hughes (Coulson 90), Crane, Barnes (Ronan 88), Omotayo (Williams 65).
