Linnets see mini unbeaten run ended

King’s Lynn failed to score at home in the league for the first time this season as their four-game unbeaten run was brought to an end.

Lynn’s lack of firepower was again evident as Spennymoor took the points courtesy of Will Harris’ first-half goal at The Walks.

It wasn’t through a lack of effort from Adam Lakeland’s side, who battled valiantly to find an equaliser after the break.

The Linnets named an unchanged line-up from the side that came from behind to beat Rushall Olympic 2-1 in midweek.

Recent signing Gabriel Rogers, who made an instant impact on Tuesday night, had to be content with a place on the bench.

Lynn went behind on 15 minutes after they failed to close down Rob Ramshaw and the ball eventually found it’s way through to Harris who stabbed home from close range.

The hosts were forced into an early change 11 minutes after going behind as Josh Coulson limped off to be replaced by Emmanuel Oke.

Lynn were lucky not to be further behind after Glen Taylor dispossessed Kyle Callan McFadden but was thwarted by a fine save from Paul Jones.

As poor as they had been in the opening 30 minutes, Lynn should have been back on level terms with their first real chance of the contest.

Ben Stephens made a darting run down the left and crossed for Jack Smith who, with the goal at his mercy, played the ball back without a visiting defender in sight.

On the stroke of half-time, Lynn wasted another golden opportunity to draw themselves level.

A quickly-taken free-kick sent Kian Ronan clear down the right but visiting goalkeeper Michael Roxburgh made himself big on the edge of the box to deny the full-back an equaliser.

Stephens forced Roxburgh to tip the ball over his woodwork from a free-kick early in the second half as Lynn – much improved from their showing in the first 45 minutes – started on the front foot.

New boy Rogers was introduced into the action 18 minutes into the second half as Lynn searched for a way back into the game.

But it was the visitors who almost doubled their advantage as Jones was at full stretch to his left to keep out a Taylor free-kick.

Substitute Ismael Fatadjo was denied a late leveller as Keenan Ferguson scrambled the ball clear at his near post late on.
