King’s Lynn Town 1 Cheshunt 0King’s Lynn Town stuttered their way into Monday’s Third Qualifying Round draw of the FA Cup with a slender victory over Cheshunt at the Walks.A delightful finish from Tommy Hughes midway through the second half sent Lynn Isthmian League visitors packing on an afternoon where the hosts wasted numerous chances in a one-sided second half.A plucky Cheshunt outfit belied their lowly league position in the first half before Lynn’s extra quality saw them through after the interval.Lynn’s best effort of an abject first-half display came in the fifth minute as Finley Barnes saw his shot turned behind for a corner by visiting goalkeeper Preston Edwards.Lynn custodian Paul Jones was the busier of the two goalkeepers in a goalless first period.Jones saved low to his right to deny Khris Oti in the 39th minute and two minutes later he was called upon again to foil Jeremy Bisall. The home side were much better after the interval as Ross Crane headed a Josh Hmami centre over from five yards and Kyle Callan-McFadden hooked an effort over the woodwork. The tie needed a moment of magic, and Hughes provided it midway through the second half.McCammon sent the midfielder clear and, with Edwards well off his line, Hughes nonchalantly chipped the ball into the back of the net.Walker saw his long-range effort well saved, McCammon dragged another shot wide and was thwarted by a brilliant save from Edwards as Lynn ended the tie well on top.
