Linnets pick up a point at Peterborough Sports

Peterborough Sports 1 King’s Lynn Town 1

King’s Lynn Town continued their recent improvement by sharing the spoils with Peterborough Sports in the A47 derby this afternoon.

Bartosz Cybulski put Lynn ahead from the penalty spot early on only for Dion Sembie Ferris to redress the balance ten minutes into the second half.

The point extended Lynn’s unbeaten National League North run to three games heading into another away trip at Rushall Olympic on Tuesday night.

Linnets boss Adam Lakeland kept faith with the same starting line-up as the team that drew 1-1 against Blyth Spartans last weekend.

The clash saw Lynn – backed by more than 250 travelling supporters – come up against former club legend Michael Gash – now in joint managerial charge at Sports with Luke Steele.

Any early nerves for Lynn were eased by the award of a penalty in the 11th minute after a foul on Ben Stephens just inside the box.

Cybulski stepped up to fire the visitors in front from the spot.

The home side responded well to going behind by enjoying a long spell of possession and Lynn had goalkeeper Paul Jones to thank for saving at point-blank range to deny Dion Sembie Ferris after 30 minutes.

Sports made a fast start to the second half, but it was the visitors who came closest to increasing their advantage when Adam Crowther’s header from a Ben Stephens corner came back off the woodwork.

The home side didn’t have to wait too much longer before equalising as Matthew Toottle laid the ball on a plate for Sembie Ferris to level matters.

Lynn huffed and puffed in the final 30 minutes but were unable to create any opportunities to find a winner.
