King’s Lynn Town 0 Chorley 0King’s Lynn Town were unable to lift themselves back into the play-offs – on a day when chairman Stephen Cleeve announced that he needed another £50,000 to see the club through to the summer.Lynn gave another good of themselves on the pitch to earn themselves a hard-fought point at The Walks, but the more alarming news came off the pitch in the chairman’s programme notes. In his matchday notes, Cleeve wrote: “As many of you know, I am quite happy to write off all my loans and give away my shares for free – I was doing precisely that when a deal fell apart as the new potential owner was worried about investment needed and the sustainability of the club.”That has left me in a very awkward position. I have two commercial deals in place that will bring in at least £300,000 next season, and that should just about break us even but the key is that we need to get there.”Nearly all the bills are covered but there is no question that we will be short (probably around £50,000 will be needed before the end of June) hence the need to ask you as fans if you would be happy to put in a tenner if you can afford to do so.”Please email me your thoughts on the issue to: chairman@kltown.co.uk The financial issues took away some of the gloss from a decent performance from Lynn, who were unable to break the deadlock against a stubborn Magpies outfit. Lynn were heading back into the play-offs until an injury-time equaliser from Hereford saw the Bulls draw 2-2 at home to Chester. With Buxton drawing 1-1 against Kidderminster home, Lynn remain eighth in the table and are outside the final play-off berth on goal difference.Lynn boss Adam Lakeland made one change to the team that won 1-0 at Leamington: Josh Coulson dropped to the bench, and Josh Hmami returned to the starting line-up. Freddie Sass’ long throws were a big feature in the opening stages of the game as Lynn began brightly.A fantastic tackle from Cody Johnson on Tom Carr denied the visitors an opening after Dylan Crowe was dispossessed down the right. Lynn were fortunate to stay level in the 19th minute as Adam Ellis’ effort came back off the post following a corner from Adam Blakeman. Both Hmami and Sam Warburton had efforts blocked in quick succession after a lengthy spell of home possession. Hmami then picked out Omotayo, whose effort was deflected behind for a corner, while the former scooped a shot over the woodwork following a long Sass throw as the home side began to get a foothold in the game. The home side remained on top as half-time approached and Hmami headed a deep centre from cross straight into the arms of Matt Urwin.Lynn began the second half on the front foot but were unable to capitalise on any of Sass’ long throws into the box.Linnets goalkeeper Paul Jones was forced into his first save of the game in the 63rd minute as he got down to keep out an effort from Kole Hall. Urwin was at full stretch to his left to keep out a rasping long-range effort from Hmami 13 minutes from time.Good defending from both sides kept the final score goalless.King’s Lynn Town (4-2-3-1): Jones; Sass, Crowe, Wilson, McFadden; Taylor, Johnson; Crane, Warburton (Marsden 75), Hmami; Omotayo.
