Southport 0 King’s Lynn Town 2Two quickfire goals helped King’s Lynn Town maintain their spot in the National League North play-off places this afternoon.A long-range effort from Greg Taylor gave the Linnets a 33rd-minute lead against Southport before a stunning free-kick from Josh Hmami wrapped up the win three minutes later.Lynn remain seventh in the table – one point ahead of Curzon Ashton – who have three games in hand in the race for the play-off places. The visitors’ attacking persistence got them their first goal after 33 minutes on their way to the club’s third double of the campaign.A powerful long-range effort from Taylor whistled over the head of Tony McMillan and straight into the roof of the net.One goal then became two in an instant, as ex-Sandgrounder Josh Hmami curled a free-kick into the top corner just three minutes later as the visitors went into the break 2-0 up. Yellow cards littered the second period as time slipped away for the hosts and Adam Lakeland’s side kept a clean sheet. Lynn included Friday evening signing Bailey Marsden on the bench and the youngster came on for his debut in injury time.Former Manchester United and Crewe youngster Bailey arrived at The Walks from Mossley AFC on a permanent deal.Lynn fans also got a glimpse of Matty Warburton, also making his Linnets bow, for the final 12 minutes of the encounter in the north west. Next up for the Linnets is a visit from league leaders Brackley Town on Tuesday night before another clash at home with Spennymoor Town the visitors on Saturday.“If we can get a few extra through the gates for the games coming, that’ll massively help,” said Lakeland after today’s win.
