King’s Lynn Town will have two new faces in their squad for a high-profile friendly against League One side Peterborough United tonight (7pm).
Midfielders Emmanuel Maja, 24, and William Van Lier, 20, both agreed deals with Lynn earlier this week and are likely to feature against Posh as Lynn step out at The Walks for the first time this summer.
Maja joins the club after being released by Aldershot Town earlier this month.
A product of the Kinetic Academy and a former Manchester City under-18s player, the central midfielder has enjoyed spells at Croydon, Welling United, Enfield, Tonbridge Angels, Cheshunt, and Banbury United.
He made nine appearances in the National League for Aldershot during the 2024-25 season, while also spending time on loan at Hemel Hempstead and Truro City.
Lynn fans may recall Maja from the 2023-24 season, when he lined up against them for Banbury in a 1–1 draw at The Walks. He missed the reverse fixture through suspension.
Also set to feature is Van Lier, a technically gifted central midfielder who arrives from Peterborough Sports.
A familiar name to local football followers, Van Lier came through the ranks at Peterborough United, having joined the Posh Academy in 2012.
He made a single senior appearance for the club in an EFL Trophy tie in November 2023 before being released last summer.
Van Lier impressed during his time at Peterborough Sports, making 43 appearances across league and cup last season, including two substitute appearances against the Linnets in National League North action.
His work rate and composure on the ball earned him plaudits at Step Two.
Posh, now under the guidance of manager Darren Ferguson, are expected to bring a strong squad for the first of two friendlies against National League opposition in the space of 24 hours.
Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony and director of football Barry Fry are both expected to be at The Walks.
