Adam Lakeland is looking for his King’s Lynn Town side to maintain their momentum in a huge National League North clash tomorrow. The Linnets welcome league leaders to The Walks (3pm) in a crucial encounter before they end the bank holiday weekend with a trip to Needham Market on Easter Monday.Lynn go into the match on the back of a 3-1 win over Farsley Celtic.Their play-offs destiny is now in their own hands going into the final three fixtures of the campaign, but Lakeland feels his side will require a better performance when they come up against the front-runners.Looking ahead to the visit of The Iron, Lakeland said: “I’ve said to the lads we’re getting closer but we are also still far away. Scunthorpe is a massive game. They are a mammoth of a football club and they deserve to go up.”They are in a different race to us and both sides go into the game under pressure to get a win.”It’s going to be a tough game. We’ve got to make sure we are ready. “We’ve been working hard every day since July 1 to be in with a chance of extending our season. “But that’s what you want to be doing, turning up to a game with something on the line. There is nothing worse than going into the final games of the season with nothing to play for.”Scunthorpe will be backed by close to 1,000 supporters at The Walks and Lynn’s boss wants to better the Iron’s incredible support.”The Easter bank holiday weekend is always a massive weekend for all football clubs,” he said. “I’m hoping the people of Lynn come to support this team as they are giving everything and we need them here to make some noise and help us keep this run of form going.”Lynn’s boss believes the National League is at its ‘strongest’ this season as they prepare to take on a Scunthorpe side which includes former Linnets Michael Clunan, Tyler, Denton, Joe Rowley and Andrew Boyce. “The league gets stronger every year,” he said.”Last season it was 75 points to get into the play-offs and that was the highest-ever points total, well it’s going to be higher than that again. “We said that we wanted 75 points – that was our target – and we’ve now got 73, but we are going to need more than that if we are to extend our season.”I don’t know what the magic number is going to be, but all we can do is keep working hard to get as many points as possible on the board.”
