King’s Lynn Town 1 Radcliffe 1King’s Lynn Town moved back up the National League North table as they were held at home by struggling Radcliffe.Jonny Margetts cancelled out Danny Greenfield’s early opener for the visitors but were unable to find a winner as they struggled to kill off another side in the lower reaches of the league. It stretched Lynn’s unbeaten sequence on home soil to seven games and duly lifted them another place in the standings courtesy of Brackley Town’s 3-2 defeat at Hereford.Linnets boss Adam Lakeland made three changes to his starting line-up.Finlay Armstrong returned to the Lynn back line after missing the goalless draw at Rushall Olympic while there were also recalls for both Josh McCammon and Jonny Margetts. The trio of Finlay Barnes, Kian Ronan and Tommy Hughes all dropped to the bench alongside frontman Gold Omotayo who returned to the fold after injury. Lynn got off to the worst possible start as the visitors got their noses in front after ten minutes. A stretching Sam Walker could only help the ball into the path of Danny Greenfield down the right and his first-time effort went through the arms of goalkeeper Paul Jones who won’t be rushing to watch the replays. The goal was no more than the visitors deserved after dominating the opening quarter of the match.Jones redeemed himself 13 minutes later with a brilliant save with his feet to deny Josh Hancock. Hancock had two half-chances to extend Radcliffe’s lead as Lynn again went into hiding for the second successive Saturday.Josh Hmami’s shot sailed into the back car park as an off-colour home side tried to find a way back into the game. Lynn finally gave the home crowd something to get excited about seven minutes before the break as Ross Crane’s connection from a Finlay Armstrong centre came back off the post.It was Lynn’s best spell of the afternoon and on the stroke of half-time Sam Walker was fouled by Radcliffe goalscorer Greenfield in the box and referee Lewis Dawson pointed to the spot. Jonny Margetts made no mistake from the penalty spot as the hosts went into the break, albeit fortunately, on level terms. The frontman had a great chance to double his tally for the afternoon seven minutes into the second half but his header from Walker’s corner was caught by Mateusz Hewelt. It became a war of attrition in the second half with both sides looking almost content with a point.Hmami drilled one effort wide and saw another shot from long range comfortably dealt with by Hewelt as the game remained all square. Substitute Finlay Barnes and Hmami were both denied by Hewelt in the final five minutes as Lynn desperately tried to find a much-needed winner.King’s Lynn Town: Jones, Crowe (Ronan), Wilson, Taylor, Armstrong, Walker (Barnes 68), Johnson, Hmami, McCammon, Crane (Hughes 83), Margetts (Omotayo 68).
