Linnets handed away draw in FA Cup

King’s Lynn Town boss Adam Lakeland has been handed a potential reunion against his former club in the FA Cup.The Linnets have been handed a potential away tie at Curzon Ashton should his side overcome Worksop in a Third Qualifying Round replay tomorrow night.Should Lynn see off the Tigers it will be a difficult ask against the Nash who were 2-0 victors when the two sides met in the National League North meeting at the Walks earlier this month.The tie will take place on Saturday, October 12.Linnets boss Lakeland, who celebrated his first anniversary in charge on Sunday, felt his side should have been out of sight on Saturday before Worksop’s last-gasp equaliser.And he believes the Tigers – unbeaten in 13 games – will still pose a big threat in tomorrow night’s replay.Lakeland said: “I think anybody who’s been at the game today can see that they’ll pose a real threat, so it’ll be no different on Tuesday night in that regard. “But we are at home and it’s a big pitch at the Walks, it’s grass and it will be slick and we’ll be able to probably move the ball a bit more fluently than we were able to on a sticky pitch. “As soon as the draw was made and even in the last few days we’ve spoken to the players at length just to rubber stamp exactly how hard this game was going to be.”If we’d have come here and we didn’t fancy it or we didn’t apply ourselves properly, then we’d have got knocked out, but the lads have put in a big performance and come within a whisker of going through and it would have been deservedly so in my opinion.”Sometimes that’s the way that football goes and now it’s up to us to put in a big performance and and try and get through on Tuesday.” Lynn’s boss believes playing on grass rather than a 3G pitch will only benefit his side as they look to get the job completed against their Northern Premier League visitors.”We train on for 3G more often than not but I think it does make a difference,” he said. “People who are much more knowledgeable and technical than I am will probably disagree, but I never find that two of these pictures are the same.””You look at the way the ball bounces today, there was one bounced in front of Cory Johnson. “He’s going to land on a second ball and it’s probably bounced about seven foot then the players then are mindful of that and it’s not an easy surface to play on.”When it’s dry and very sticky and that’s difficult to when you want to try and get the ball moving a little bit quicker and then you add into that that we have had to play with a completely different ball.”
