Linnets bring in League Two defender on loan

King’s Lynn Town have completed the signing of Ethan Sutcliffe on a one-month loan deal from AFC Wimbledon.

Sutcliffe, 19, will provide Lynn with extra cover at the back with both Adam Crowther and Kyle Callan-McFadden sidelined with injury.

Linnets manager Mark Hughes said: “Ethan is a young commanding centre back, who is highly thought of at AFC Wimbledon and will come straight into the squad for Saturday.

“I watched Ethan on Tuesday in a friendly versus a strong Stevenage side and he impressed me. With the current injuries and suspension I felt we had to act and bring a player in.”

Sutcliffe started his career at Crystal Palace before joining the Dons upon his release from their youth sector and hasn’t looked back since.

The ball-playing centre-back has gradually developed his technical skills over the last few years and saw his progress was rewarded in the summer of last year when he was handed his first professional contract.

His first-team debut came during the 2021/22 season against Crystal Palace U21s in the EFL Trophy.

On his arrival, Sutcliffe said: “I’m really excited to be joining King’s Lynn, and grateful for the opportunity that the management team have given me. Looking forward to get going tomorrow.”

Sutcliffe will be available for selection for Lynn’s National League North fixture at Warrington Town tomorrow and will be squad number 26.
