Linnets boss remains defiant as winless run continues

King’s Lynn Town manager Mark Hughes says it’s time for everyone to stick together after his side’s winless run was stretched to six games with a 1-0 reverse at Warrington this afternoon.

Isaac Buckley-Ricketts scored the only goal of the game in Cheshire to leave Lynn languishing in the bottom three of the National League North table.

Hughes remains defiant after Lynn’s latest setback, insisting he can still turn the club’s fortunes around.

“It wasn’t a great performance at all,” admitted Lynn’s boss after the 1-0 defeat.

“They scored in the first half and they made it very difficult in the second half for us to carve out any chances.

“That’s now four defeats in 10 games and we need to be better than that in no uncertain terms.

“I’ll just go back to the fans, I was speaking to them after the game. I appreciate how difficult it is and one of them said, ‘we’re sticking with you mate’ which is brilliant for me.

“I’m not looking for recognition, I just went over there to show that I care and to show that we are doing things and to improve it, it takes everyone.

“It takes the chairman, the fans, everyone to work together to get out of this bad start that we’ve had.”

Lynn’s boss also revealed that fresh blood is needed if the club is to start climbing the league table in the coming weeks.

“We will be working very hard to get another forward in over the two-period,” he said.

“Even in the last week we’ve had boys in training with us who look really good, so now it’s time to go out and get them.

“It’s also time for me to have a conversation with a few of the boys who played today and tell them it is best if they move on.”
