Linnets boss makes first signing

Adam Lakeland has made his first signing as King’s Lynn Town manager by bringing in a new midfielder.

Lakeland has signed Scottish under-18 player George Morrison, 17, on a month’s loan from League One Fleetwood Town.

On Lynn’s latest recruit, Lakeland said: “George is a player highly-regarded by Fleetwood – a club I have had many successful loan players from at previous clubs in the past.

“He will bring energy, desire, and a consistent work ethic into the group and we look forward to working with him.”

Morrison started his youth career at Lancaster City, where he was scouted by Fleetwood Town and joined the academy at the age of ten.

He progressed through the age groups at the Highbury Stadium and went on to make his debut for the under-18 side aged only 15, contributing to the side winning the EFL North West Youth Alliance in 2021.

The youngster played a huge role for the under-18s during the 2021–22 season whilst still an under-16 player and even featured 12 times for the under-21 side.

Last October, he signed his first professional contract with the club, putting pen to paper on a two-year deal only months after starting his two-year youth scholarship.

Morrison made his first team and professional debut a month later when he replaced Brendan Sarpong-Wiredu as a late substitute in the 3-1 FA Cup First round victory over Oxford City.

“I’m delighted to be here, I can’t wait to get started and hopefully help the team push on and get back to where they belong,” said Morrison after completing the formalities of his loan deal.

The youngster goes straight into Lynn’s squad for tomorrow’s National League North trip to Darlington.
