Leamington 0 King’s Lynn Town 1Substitute Finlay Barnes climbed off the bench to net a late winner as the Linnets maintained their play-off push with a dramatic victory at Leamington.Barnes – who had only been on the field for a couple of minutes – hammered home a winner as the game entered into stoppage time to give his side a crucial three points on their travels.Lynn stay seventh in the league table but are two points clear of Buxton in eighth and three points clear of Curzon Ashton, who still have two games in hand, in ninth.Adam Lakeland’s side have now kept two clean sheets on the bounce, and it was their second successive 1-0 win on the road in the space of a week.Speaking after the game, the Lynn boss said: “I’m absolutely delighted,”“Because this is a really difficult place to come. And to win it so late on it’s just a massive, massive win for us. “It was probably everything I expected it to be, really. Up in the air, off the pitch, slow, bobbly, lacking quality, lacking loads of chances. “I felt we deserved it, over the 90 minutes I did.“I felt we were quite on top of them in the first half, especially, but just didn’t make the most of the situations we got into.”The second half, again, we were a bit wasteful when we got into certain areas, the pitch maybe let us down on occasion. “And then, obviously, they went up from a goal kick, they got in and hit the post and we got lucky there.”But credit to the players because they found another gear and kept going and kept believing. And Fin’s come off the bench and scored a really big, big goal for us.” Striker Jonny Margetts missed the game with his partner Katie giving birth. If Lynn can beat fifth-placed Chorley at The Walks next Saturday, they could further enhance their National League North play-off aspirations. A win against Andy Preece’s side would see Lynn leapfrog the Magpies in the league standings going into the final four games of the campaign.Leamington: Hawkins, Richards (Walker 71), Evans, Landers, Edwards (Williams 69), Berridge (Lynn 84), Shorrock, Ward, Medrano, Clarke, Farmer.
