King’s Lynn Town’s National League North play-off ambitions were dented by a slender 1-0 defeat at Darlington this afternoon.Kallum Griffiths’ early goal was enough to give the home side all three points in a game where Lynn were indebted to goalkeeper Paul Jones for a string of fine saves.Jones was at his very best to deny Cedric Main, Ben Hedley and Hazeem Bakre at Blackwell Meadows while the closest Lynn came to a goal was when Greg Taylor’s effort came back off the woodwork in the second half.Lynn remain sixth in the league standings, a point ahead of seventh-placed Curzon Ashton who have three games in.They also hold a two-point buffer over Tuesday night’s opponents Kidderminster Harriers, who also have two games up their sleeves and were beaten 3-1 at home by Spennymoor Town this afternoon.Today’s win leaves tenth-placed Darlington six points behind Lynn but the Quakers also have three games in hand on Adam Lakeland’s side.Darlington: Jameson, Hedley, Barrow, Platt, Lees, Cornish (Hetherington 84), Hatfield, Main, Griffiths, Kelly (Flint 72), Bakre (Maskell 80).
