King’s Lynn Town have added to their attacking ranks with the signing of an attacking midfielder. The Linnets have snapped up the services of Matty Warburton from Solihull Moors, who is likely to be used in the number 10 role at The Walks.Warburton, 32, also lists Curzon Ashton, Salford, Stockport, Northampton Town, Yeovil Town, Halifax, among his previous clubs having worked with Lynn boss Adam Lakeland at the former. The Manchester-born player has scored 151 times in 411 games during his career.Linnets boss Adam Lakeland told the club’s media channels: “I’m delighted to bring a player of Matty’s calibre and experience to the football club.”You only need to look at the clubs he’s played for and the success he’s had to see what quality of player we are bringing into our building as he’s a National League player all day long.”Having worked with him earlier in his career and with Sam (Walker) having played with him as well, we know what strengths he brings as both a person and a player. “He’s a great character, leads by example in his day to day professionalism and will drive standards both on and off the pitch, I’m sure. “It’s been a frustrating season for him having had a few niggles, but with the correct management and understanding, I’m sure we will get him up to speed quickly and that he will have a positive impact on the team and other lads, who need a bit of a lift at the moment, for the remainder of the season.”Whilst there will be temptation to throw him straight into the fold, it’s important to acknowledge that his minutes have been limited of late and that we will need to build him up this week, and possibly next, so that when he does go into the team he can perform to his maximum and impact the team.”We’re very pleased to get this deal over the line and I look forward to working with him again.” Warbuton’s arrival comes less than 24 hours after Lynn’s 2-0 defeat at Kidderminster Harriers, where Lakeland admitted his side were well beaten.“We were well beaten and if we’re being honest we should have been out of sight, really, at half-time,” he said. “We made a couple of changes at half-time, just to try and offer us something top end of the pitch. We struggled to get up the pitch, we didn’t play anywhere near enough of it in their half in the first half again. Jonny (Margetts) was completely isolated.“I felt we started the second half better, we played in their half, we won a few set-plays, put a couple of crosses in. Their keeper made a save off a volley from Sam (Walker) and then within a minute or so, the ball’s in the back of the net again. “And that’s just where we’re at, at this moment in time, we’re conceding some really poor goals, we’re struggling a little bit to stay in games when we’re second best.“And ultimately, the second goal it was deserved by them, to be honest. But when you are still in it at 1-0, that second goal made life so much more difficult.“But the lads kept on going, their keeper’s made two or three good saves, but so has Jonah (Paul Jones).“Yes, the best team won tonight. We have just got to dust ourselves down and we can get ready to go again at the weekend.”
