Gold Omotayo has told King’s Lynn Town that he will leave the club this summer.
The Swiss striker – Lynn’s leading scorer with 25 goals last season – is being being linked with a move to either AFC Fylde or Aldershot and informed the club oh his decision over the weekend.
A statement from the club a short while ago read: “The club has been informed that last year’s Supporters’ Player of the Season, Gold Omotayo, will not be returning to the club for next season.
“The chairman and Gold had a long, constructive talk on Sunday and he felt like it was the right time to move on.”
On Omotayo’s departure, club owner Stephen Cleeve: “We’re grateful for Gold’s contribution. He has dealt with things in a very mature way.
“He always acknowledged the part this club played in helping his career move forward, and is a model professional.”
Omotayo joined King’s Lynn in the 2021/22 season and found the back of the net 11 times in his first campaign.
The big frontman’s prolific nature in front of goal spearheaded Lynn to a second-place finish in the National League North while his header earned Lynn a memorable 1-0 victory away at League Two Doncaster Rovers in the FA Cup.
Omotayo becomes the third regular player of last season’s squad to leave The Walks, hot on the heels of both Tyler Denton and Michael Clunan who have linked up with Scunthorpe.
