King’s Lynn boss Rob Lyon admits the recent lack of home fixtures has been a massive frustration – having seen their momentum of last month punctured by several setbacks.
Lynn haven’t raced at the Adrian Flux Arena since June 16 when they defeated rivals Ipswich in a roof-raising local derby.
Since then, they have been on what amounts to a nationwide tour, including four away matches, but those have come amidst injury concerns for Jan Kvech and Ben Cook.
Last Monday’s scheduled home match against Sheffield fell victim to the weather, all of which means it is Ipswich who are due back for their second league visit of the season next Monday.
Lyon said: “It’s been four weeks since we’ve been at home, and this is one of those things that we need to look at addressing.
“We’re not getting regular home meetings, and we’re not the only ones, so it’s something we need to look at as a group.
“We need regular home meetings so fans can get some regular speedway, and it just hasn’t been happening often enough.
“We’ve been fighting hard at away venues to try to keep things close, despite the problems we’ve had, and again we’ll have to look at things ahead of Monday.
“Jan hopefully will be with us, Ben I’m not so sure at the moment, but we’ll see what we can put out to win the meeting.”
Meanwhile, the Young Stars aim to take another step towards lifting the National Development Trophy title when they visit Plymouth on Saturday.
Jason Pipe’s side boast a perfect 100 per cent record both home and away from clashes with Birmingham and Leicester so far, but he expects a different test on the tight Coliseum circuit.
Pipe said: “Our lads are all developing as we go along, which is proven by our new set of averages that we recently were given, and if we were to win the league, then that would be a great bonus and a job well done.
“But we can’t count those chickens yet and we are only at the halfway stage, and even though we are unbeaten in four, we still have four hard meetings to race in.
“Plymouth is a very technical track, the smallest in all the leagues and one you really have to use your head and more so, throttle control.
“The Centurions have started off their home season with a win and I’m sure their manager Barry Bishop will have his boys ready for this, as they’ll not just be seeing this as a good chance of another home win, but I’m sure they’d love to stop our unbeaten run!
“We need to make sure on Saturday that we are up for it from the start, because Plymouth is never an easy place to go to and get a result, and even though their team may look a little weaker than ours on paper, they have riders who can spring a surprise or two.”
