Manager Adam Lakeland said he was proud of his players after seeing their six-game unbeaten run come to an end at Chorley.King’s Lynn Town found themselves two goals down at half-time before an injury-time goal from Gold Omotayo set up a frantic finale at Victory Park. The hosts took the lead midway through the first half after Lynn failed to clear a long throw and goalkeeper Paul Jones was adjudged to have put the ball into his own net.Speaking after the game, Lakeland said: “I’m proud of the players today.”This is a really difficult place to come. They are one of the best teams, if not the best team in the league and they were rightly ahead.”They were better than us in most departments I felt in the first half. They were a bit sharper and quicker to second balls and they played with better quality than what we did,”We never got going if I’m honest with you until the second half an probably the biggest disappointment is probably the goals we’ve conceded. “The first one is really poor, a long throw which bounces in our six-yard box. The lads are adamant that nobody has touched it before it has gone over the line and Greg (Taylor) has cleared it. “The second one has killed us because Gold has gone to play the ball to Finlay (Barnes) not made the pass, they’ve broke down the other end and scored from 30 yards.”For as good as they were and as poor we were, had we gone in to half-time only one goal down, you saw what happened on Tuesday that we could improve and get something out of the game but when it’s 2-0 at a place like this it is incredibly difficult.”The second half I was proud of my players for keeping going. We had to ride our luck at times trying to force the game. We kept going until the end and scored a really good goal and I think had we scored it five minutes earlier then I think it could have made for a really interesting finish.” The second goal came a minute into added time in the first half, Dubum Ezee netting from distance.Striker Jonny Margetts came off the bench for the final quarter of an hour before Omotayo converted a Dylan Crowe cross for a late consolation. The defeat sees Chorley leapfrog Lynn into second place in the National League North table. They can return to winning ways when they return to The Walks on Tuesday to face Farsley Celtic. Freddie Sass, Josh Hmam, Tommy Hughes and Josh McCammon are also nursing knocks while Kody Johnson is serving a suspension.”We’ll have to see how many bodies we’ve got as we are carrying a few niggles and bumps. We are a little bit depleted but what we’ve done incredibly well this season is when we’ve lost we’ve bounced back and we have got a home game on Tuesday night.Chorley: Urwin, Henley, Wilson, Smith, Blakeman, Clarke, Eze, Calveley, Horbury, Hewitt (Omerod 79), Touray.
