King’s Lynn Town manager Adam Lakeland has warned his players they will be sitting behind him in the dugout if they don’t perform to the levels he expects. The Linnets travel to Buxton in the National League North tomorrow with their play-off hopes hanging by a thread going into the final seven games of the season.Lynn need a big performance – and a positive result – following the home debacle against Spennymoor last weekend and Lakeland has every faith that his players will bounce back.”Every single game is difficult but my confidence doesn’t diminish because I know what the players are capable of,” he said ahead of the trip to the Silverlands Stadium.”It’s a bad performance, it’s a bad result but we’ve had them before and we’ve bounced back and that’s exactly what we need to do and I expect us to do.”Midfielder Josh Hmami paid the price for a poor first-half display last weekend by being withdrawn at the interval.”I thought he was poor,” admitted the Lynn boss. “He has been one of our more consistent performers and he’s played virtually every minute. “You’ve got to play with discipline. Josh is an example. He’s played for a team that’s been nowhere near getting the play-offs for a good few years.”Winning or losing, you’ve got to play with discipline and you’ve got to play to a structure. You can’t just do what you want.”And if you do what you want, you’ll sit behind me. It’s as simple as that and he’ll be disappointed because he’s a great lad and he’s a top player.” The Lynn boss didn’t hold back after the 3-0 home humiliation against Spennymoor Town last weekend.A scathing Lakeland said: “Rubbish that, wasn’t it? Rubbish. “I can’t tell you how frustrated and disappointed I am with that performance. We looked a shadow of what we’ve been in the last few games.“The goals we conceded were laughable. The first one’s poor. The second one then absolutely kills you and it’s a poor goal. “The third one just summed the game up really. It was a shambles of a goal to concede, just a comedy of errors.“We were a shambles. That first 10 minutes individually and collectively we were a shambles. I can’t put my finger on why.”I’m very annoyed right now so I need to watch it back.“Just a comedy of errors – a shot right down the throat at Jonah nearly goes in, we get away with that one. “We were just all over the place. We’ve had back-to-back clean sheets. It just baffles me. If you want to be successful, you can’t have people being up here for two or three games and then dropping down here. That won’t take us where I want us to go.“I think players need to think about their individual performances today. I’ll defend them all day long but sometimes as a manager you’ve got to be brutal.”
