King’s Lynn Town fans are starting to see what Ross Crane is all about, says manager Adam Lakeland.Crane helped himself to a goal and assist as the Linnets came from behind to defeat a very good Darlington side at the Walks.Speaking after the 2-1 win, Lakeland said: “I think even sometimes I expect too much of him. He’s still a young lad and he’s playing at a very difficult level of football having come up from Leiston.”He has moments in games where you think, wow, but then he has moments where you want to pull your hair out because he maybe wants to take an extra touch or turn back and it’s just decision making.”Generally, what determines how well players do his decision making. He is a work in progress, but he’s full of running, full of enthusiasm and I’m so pleased that he’s got his goal there today just through his willingness to work.”Dylan Crowe has played the ball up and in behind made their defender put a bit of doubt in the goalkeeper and Ross has gambled and he’s forced a mistake and he’s got his first goal for us.”Fin Barnes is also relatively new to us and we’re probably still figuring out how to get the most out of both of those players. “One thing, you can’t knock them for is their effort and in the second half, he put a right shift in. “It’s the hardest thing to do especially against organised teams, but we forced two errors on them today and that’s what the game is about.”You can have all the tactics and all the quality in games, but sometimes it’s just a willingness to work and force the opposition into doing something or making errors.”The first one is a good press, Ross forces the errors and squared it to Tommy who has scored and the second one is just a ball behind, Ross hasn’t given up on it and he’s forced their goalkeeper into an error and scored so it’s important that we just keep on working hard.” All three goals came from errors with both goalkeepers at fault for the opening two.A rare blemish from Paul Jones allowed the Quakers to take the lead before Tommy Hughes netted an almost carbon-copy goal at the other end as the ball squirmed under the body of Peter Jameson. Another blunder led to the winning goal, but it wouldn’t have arrived had it not been for the persistence of Crane.Lees allowed a high ball to bounce on the edge of the Darlington area, and as he and goalkeeper Jameson went to sort out the danger, Crane nipped in before slotting into an empty net.
