King’s Lynn Town manager Adam Lakeland has told supporters that he will not sign new players just to please people. The Linnets boss remains active in trying to freshen up his squad ahead of Saturday’s National League North trip to his former club Curzon Ashton.Lakeland said: “We’re trying to bring one or two in if we can, but it’s not easy for many reasons.”Well just keep on working hard because we’ve got to get it right.“We’re not a part-time team that can put some lads on non-contracts and if it doesn’t work after a month send them down the road, we’re full-time and potentially asking lads to give up careers to come and be full-time footballers and that’s if we can financially afford it.”So then you’re looking at lads who are maybe already in full-time models elsewhere and there’s not many of those types of teams at our level and below so then you’re looking above, but then financially, there’s a lot of giants in the league above that pay good money, so it’s not an easy thing to do.”I won’t do just because I keep getting asked about it by you guys and supporters that are bumping into in the street and the chairman and Joe and everybody else who’s asking when are we going to bring players in. “I could go and sign 20 players tomorrow but I’m not going to just bring players in just to please people, I’ll bring players in that I think are going to make us better. “I think you can see from the group that we’ve got in the recruitment that we’ve done in my time at the club that we’ve turned round the bang-average group of players to a team that’s now competing at the top end of the league, so the recruitment’s been good.”We’ve got a good team and when we find a player or a couple of players that we think will come in and make us better then we will try and do it and if all the dots connect, then we’ll get it over the line.”If one or two of them don’t and we miss out, then we just move on to the next target but it’s not so straightforward to just bring in players.” Both Lynn and Curzon Ashton have picked up eight points from their last six outings, and the Nash have so far failed to gain a point from the visits of play-off rivals Scunthorpe. Brackley, Kidderminster and Hereford. On Wednesday, Curzon announced the signing of attacking midfielder/winger Alex Curran for an undisclosed fee. He returned to the club after two seasons with Macclesfield.Lynn will be hoping that it’s a case of third-time lucky against the Nash this season, having lost 2-0 to them in the reverse fixture at The Walks before suffering a 1-0 defeat away home in the Fourth Qualifying Round of the FA Cup.
