Hudson picks up heat victory at Fulbeck

A West Norfolk karting ace was in race-winning form in the opening round of the Super 4 British Karting Championship, at Fulbeck.

Marcus Hudson and his Hudson Motorsport team tasted victory in the second heat of the day in changeable weather conditions at the Lincolnshire circuit.

The first race was wet and saw Hudson start tenth on the grid but having major understeer issues he only managed to gain two places to finish eighth overall.

Back in the paddock, the team made some big changes to the chassis setup.

The weather was changeable and when on the dummy grid the 16 strong field of karts were split between slicks and wets as their tyre of choice.

The track was greasy, but dry, and Hudson started Heat Two on wets and was right behind the leader from the off and the kart would now do what its driver wanted.

Hudson was all over the back of the leader and being blocked at every corner but he had more grip and chose his time on lap two to make the pass for the lead going through turn 5, a 90 degree corner.

Once in front, Hudson never looked back and pulled out a large gap of 7.8 seconds.

With such a big lead in front, he controlled his pace on the wets as the circuit was drying and won the race by more than 2.6 seconds.

Heat three was dry and Marcus started 14th and made his way up to ninth.

In the final he lined up in fifth and finished in sixth after the final was cut short by a few laps with the red flag being waved due to a crash.

Luckily, everyone involved in the incident were not seriously injured.

Hudson Motorsport thanks sponsors Silkolene, Maxview, Studio 11, Charmed Interiors, NGK spark plugs, EBC Brakes, Hair Styles, Carter Haulage, Listers BMW, Raymond Hudson and Jason Wrona for their continued support.
