Snettisham race ace Callum Manley picked up two race wins – and was unfortunate not make it a clean sweep – at his home track of Snetterton at the weekend.
Saturday’s qualifying saw Manley glide his Honda CBR 600 around the track in damp conditions to secure himself not only pole position, but also mixing among the faster 1000cc machines that were included in the split grid and finishing third overall.
Dryer conditions showed for race one later in the morning and this saw Manley and his machine line up on the front of the grid.
As the lights went out, both Gamble and Walker managed to get the jump on Manley, and a mistake on the turn two hairpin extended the lead they had.
Some late breaking and good line choices saw Manley reel them back in on the way around the first lap, and a strong overtake on Walker saw him get back to second before he eventually reclaimed the lead.
Another consistent four laps were put in by Manley to see him take the win by 1.6 seconds.
As the riders lined up again Saturday afternoon for a rain soaked race it was the West Norfolk driver once again on pole.
He opened up a big lead going into the third lap before an overtake on a 1000cc machine saw him go off line and hit standing water, which resulted in the bike washing out from under him.
Unfortunately this resulted in a did not finish.
Manley lined up on pole in dryer conditions on the Sunday.
A flawless performance saw Manley put a gap of 11 seconds between him and his closest rival Gamble to bring his Honda home for a comfortable win
Some great race craft was shown by both Manley and Gamble in the final race, making it a great watch for all the spectators.
Manley, who is sponsored by Bec’s Sweets, will be out in action again at Donnington Race Circuit over the weekend of June 3.
