King’s Lynn Town boss James Rowe has issued a rallying call to the community after his side stormed to a 5-0 victory at Spennymoor Town on Tuesday night.
Rowe wants Linnets fans to turn out in force for tomorrow’s home clash against Darlington as his side look to maintain their excellent start to the new National League North season.
Tuesday’s emphatic result was the club’s first five-goal haul on their league travels since April 2019, when they hit St Neots Town for six in the Southern League.
It was also the first time they had struck five in any league fixture since thrashing Barnet 5-1 back in February 2021.
“It’s time for the community of King’s Lynn to really come behind the team,” said Rowe.
“We want a big crowd to support the young players. Come and enjoy the football.”
Back-to-back clean sheets have added to the optimism, with Rowe’s side also travelling to Chorley on Bank Holiday Monday.
Speaking after the Spennymoor win, he said: “The away support tonight was loud and boisterous from the start and we thank them,” he said.
“Now it’s about bringing that to our home. We’ve got a young group playing with smiles and freedom.
“We need the town behind us on Saturday, come along, enjoy the football, and help us keep this going.”
Lynn’s boss was full of praise for his side’s relentless display in the north-east, where Michael Gyasi netted a superb hat-trick.
“We were excellent and we changed our shape three times,” said Rowe.
“We knew what was coming, whether they went two up front or with a box in midfield. The work rate was outstanding.
“At half-time, it was nine shots to two, which shows the dominance. We moved the ball quickly on a good pitch and got into the penalty area in different ways. They couldn’t live with us this evening.”
Gyasi’s treble was the standout contribution, but Rowe was quick to stress that it was a collective effort from his squad of players.
“Without singling individuals out, the whole team was outstanding,” he added.
“But his goals don’t come without that work rate. He’s getting fitter, giving more to the team, and when you work like that, you get your rewards.
“I don’t believe in shape or formations, I believe in values.
“We want to play with intensity wherever the confrontation line is, with purpose and forward passing.
“It’s an invasion game, it hasn’t changed since it was invented and we took that on board.”
There was also praise for defender Tom Dickens, who impressed on his first proper league start.
“He’s been biding his time and showed his quality tonight with an outstanding performance,” said Rowe.
