Manager Paul Hunt believes striker Toby Hilliard will be a “huge asset” for Heacham next season. The 28-year-old forward has agreed to join the Magpies and arrives at the club from Northern Premier League Midlands Corby Town.Hunt said: “I worked with Toby as a young player when he was part of the Elite set-up and also at Swaffham so it’s great to be working with him again.”He’s somebody I’ve known for years. He’s a proven goalscorer, a good athlete and an even better guy. He is still in great condition and is in the prime of his career.”Toby is a big signing for us but there are several facets why he has come to the club.”He is a Heacham lad, he’s lived in the area all of his life and he is a very successful businessman. He’s a great fit for us.”There will be a lot of people in the Heacham community who will have followed his career as a player and now they’ll be able to watch him play for us.” Hilliard spent some of his footballing career at King’s Lynn Town. The attacking talent, aged 20, joined the Linnets in August 2015 from Dereham Town and showed plenty of promise during his first season at The Walks – despite 17 of his 39 appearances coming from the substitute’s bench. He is probably best remembered for his two goals against Hereford during a memorable midweek comeback win in the Southern League Premier. He has also played for both Swaffham Town and Dereham Town as well as enjoying stints with both Spalding United and Wisbech Town. The prolific forward met his new team-mates at training this week and more new signings are expected to be unveiled in the fortnight.Thurlow Nunn Premier Division Heacham have already had three training sessions and Hunt said: “The players have been working hard and the vibe around the squad has been superb. “The levels players are working at and their mentality so far has been superb.”We’ve had some real good lads come over and they’ve integrated with the lads who were already at the club really well. Everything is looking so positive.”
