Heacham and Downham Town shared the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division derby spoils with a 1-1 draw in front of a bumper Easter Monday gate of 260.Tyler Reeve scored his first senior goal with a header for the Magpies before Pat Yates replied for Downham Town, who were playing their third game in five days.Heacham manager David Griggs said: “I was delighted with our performance. It was so much better than at Ely on Saturday and it was great to see Tyler Reeve score his first goal for the club.Joint Downham Town boss Dale Stokes was full of praise for the opposition.Stokes said: “Although we’d have wanted the maximum points, we can’t be too disappointed. It’s difficult to fault the players after the schedule we’ve had and the opposition we have faced in that time. “They’ve worked as well as they could and it was just too much as seven or eight of them have had to play three lots of 90 minutes in five days, which is far from ideal.”Heacham were probably the worst team we could have come across at that stage as well, as they’re such a hard-working team and relentless with their work rate, they didn’t give us a seconds rest. “Their front line were superb with their work off the ball, so credit to them for that. We just couldn’t find our rhythm for any sustained periods.”Elsewhere on Easter Monday, Fakenham Town’s recent good form was ended with a 2-1 defeat at Sheringham, where Jay Myhill was on target for the Ghosts. Manager Andy Cunningham had no complaints about the result, saying: “You get out what you put in, and unfortunately Sheringham worked harder than we did today, when that happens.”The pitch was a leveller, and some tired legs, but we need to learn to win ugly when conditions don’t lend themselves to how we play.”This is the same group of lads that have given their all when going toe-to-toe with the top sides in the league and have been rightly praised for their performances, and they are well aware of what’s required to get to that next level.”Losing is never good but we won’t get too down about it, we learn and look to get back to winning ways Saturday.”
