Grimston Ladies beat Bircham counterparts in a thriller

Grimston Cricket Club Ladies played Bircham CC in a thrilling match on Friday evening which went down to the final over.Having won the toss and opted to bowl first, Grimston took to the field with opening bowlers B. Garnett and B. Barnes, both of whom bowled accurately and consistently to restrict the Bircham batters.H. Rudd ably assisted them in the fielding with a superb display. E. Oldroyd was the standout bowling performer with two wickets and only 17 runs from her four overs.Kerrie was the best batter for Bircham with 12 runs, closely followed by Ami and Gemma with 11 runs each.Bircham finished their innings with a net score of 272.With an impressive total to chase down, C. Nichols and E. Oldroyd were the first batting pair for Grimston, amassing 11 runs for their four overs and facing some fierce bowling.Player-of-the-match B. Garnett and C. Pegg were next to bat, putting on a 20-run partnership. Finally, with the match on the line, the batting pair of B. Barnes and F. Hanna came to the crease, the former top-scoring with 19 not out, and the latter heroically blocking out the final few balls to secure the win.
