West Norfolk AC’s medal haul included four golds at the Essex & Eastern Regional Indoor Track & Field Championships.Under-13 Matas Petreikis won two of them at Lee Valley, lowering his personal best in the heats and final to take gold in the 60m hurdles with his new time to beat 10.44sec. He also leapt to a season’s best 4.54m in winning the long jump.Petreikis just missed out on another medal with fourth place in the high jump (1.35).Under-17 Charlie Broad continues to progress and sits as UK No.2 in his age group after winning gold in the shot put with 15.51 – a new championship record. Senior athlete Alfie Williams also won shot put gold with 14.92, his second-best distance so far this year.Broad’s fellow under-17 athletes Rebecca Johnson and Isla Jackson were in the medals, too. Johnson was third in the 60m hurdles in 8.99 and Jackson won her bronze in the triple jump with a new PB of 9.86.Thomas Green competed in the under-17 60m flat race and his 7.9sec was enough for fifth place in his heat.Luke Anderson, racing in the under-15s’ 200m, was fourth in his heat in 26.43sec, a season’s best. In the 300m he was fifth overall but finished with a PB of 41.81.Also at under-15 level, Elly Jackson set two bests in the high jump for a sixth-place finish with an effort of 1.40. In the triple jump a mark of 7.96 was good enough for fifth.
