Twenty-two school teams competed in the SSP Girls Football tournament hosted at Lynnsport and supported by King’s Lynn Community Football (KLCF).There were separate competitions for Year 5/6 and Year 3/4 and all games were officiated by students from College of West Anglia (CWA) and King’s Lynn Academy (KLA).Teams played round-robin group matches which then fed into semi-finals and playoff games.Throughout the day players showed great improvement in both individual skills and teamplay and the spirit of fairplay was abundant.Winners of the Year 3/4 event were South Wootton Junior who narrowly won on penalties in the final against runners-up Dersingham.Other teams competing throughout the morning were: St Martha’s, Terrington, Glebe House, Upwell, Docking, St Martin Shouldham, Clenchwarton, Heacham Junior and Snettisham.Winners of the Year 5/6 event were South Wootton Junior who had a very close 1-0 win against runners-up St Martha’s.Other teams competing throughout the morning were: Dersingham, Fairstead, Sandringham, Gayton, Hillcrest, Terrington, Clenchwarton, Upwell and Snettisham. Thanks to Grant Cotton, from King’s Lynn Community Football, for supporting the event, it was great to see almost 170 girls playing football and having fun in the rain.Good luck to the four teams who now represent West Norfolk at the Norfolk School Games finals on Tuesday, March 19, at Goals in Norwich.
