League leaders Fakenham Town stretched their unbeaten run to four matches in the Premier Division this afternoon while there were draws for both Downham Town and Heacham. The prolific Jake Watts scored with virtually the last kick of the game from the penalty spot as the Ghosts beat Yarmouth Town 2-1 at the Daly Group Stadium.Watts now has 29 goals for the season in all competitions.Fakenham took the lead through an own goal before George Couzens drew the Bloaters level ten minutes before the break.Riley Wilson was sent off for the visitors seven minutes before the break and they were reduced to nine players when Sam Adams was dismissed following the home side’s late penalty award. The win leaves Alex Walpole’s side two points clear at the summit.Sixth-placed Downham missed a golden opportunity to close the gap on the top five in the table after conceding a last-minute equaliser at home to Cornard United in a 1-1 draw. Dylan Edge put the home side in front after the visiting goalkeeper saved Gelson DeRocha’s initial shot. The hosts wasted further chances to increase their lead and the longer the game went on the nerves began to creep in.Cornard rarely troubled Charlie Congreve between the home posts but conceded a silly free-kick as the clock ticked down. The ball eventually found its way through to Jack Graham, whose shot took a wicked deflection before beating Congreve. Downham, who have games in hand on all of the sides above them in the table, remain well-placed to make a title challenge in the second half of the season.Heacham picked up a hard-fought point at Hadleigh United following their third goalless draw in four matches. The Magpies sit 14th in the league standings with 20 points from 21 games. In the First Division North, Swaffham Town remain at the basement following an 8-2 defeat at AFC Sudbury Reserves.
