Fakenham Town bounced back to winning ways as they booked their place in the Third Round of the Norfolk Senior Cup last night. The Ghosts twice came from behind to win 3-2 in an absorbing encounter against their Thurlow Nunn Premier Division rivals at Mundford Road.Luke Middleton cancelled out Cameron King’s opener for the hosts before the dominant Brecklanders regained the lead through Harvey Lott. But the prolific Jake Watts swept home an equaliser and then headed home the winner with his 24th goal of the campaign to send Fakenham through.Fakenham boss Alex Walpole said: “It was a real Jekyll and Hyde performance. Thetford will be disappointed not to have gone in several goals ahead at half-time as they were the dominant side.”It wasn’t until the 60-minute mark where we stepped it up and started to play like we can.”Midz (Luke Middleton) and Wattsy caused their backline all sorts of problems and Louis started to show his class on and off the ball. “They were backed up by the rest who defended brilliantly and put their bodies on the line to preserve our lead and get us through to the next round. “The biggest for us was that it was a positive result after Saturday’s disappointment away at Yarmouth.”Swaffham Town came within a couple of minutes of taking their tie with Dussindale and Hellesdon Rovers to penalties at the Uncle Luke’s Stadium before losing 2-1.Harry Cupitt equalised with a late free-kick before the visitors broke Pedlars’ hearts by going straight up the other end to score the winner two minutes later. There was a shock at Station Road as Heacham exited the competition against Anglian Combination opposition in the shape of Easton.Colby Wood and Joe Jackson twice pegged the visitors back to 2-2 before the Magpies missed a penalty kick and had Toby Hilliard sent off. The tie went to penalties with Easton winning 4-1 from the spot.Tonight sees Downham Town host Castle Acre Swifts at the Memorial Field.
