Fakenham Town manager Alex Walpole says Fin Whiteley can go on and do well for King’s Lynn Town after signing for the National League North outfit. After impressing on trial over the summer, the attacking midfielder, 18, has put pen to paper for the Linnets. He scored twice and linked up well with Gold Omotayo, who notched a treble, in the 5-0 win at Soham Town Rangers on Tuesday night.Walpole said: “We’re gutted to lose someone of Fin’s ability, but at the same time, we’re happy that we’ve played a part in his journey.”The club gave him a platform, and he’s made the most of it. He’s always had the ambition to go higher, and I hope he makes the most of the ability he has. Here at Fakenham, we don’t have the money that other clubs do at this level, so we have to rely on and trust the young players that our youth teams produce. If they’re good enough, they’ll get the opportunity here.”Massive credit goes to James Page who coached him at U16 level, and Neil Jarvis and AC who have helped him develop these last few seasons in the first team.” Whiteley started with Norwich City’s academy before playing for Fakenham in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division season. He found the back of the net five times for the Ghosts and created several assists as the club achieved a top-half finish in the table.King’s Lynn boss Adam Lakeland said: “Fin has been in with us since the start of pre-season, and has shown great potential for the future.”He’s got a tremendous attitude, and work ethic and somebody who we feel is coachable and that we can help improve his game moving forwards.”I’m delighted he’s joined us and look forward to working with him more.”On joining the Linnets, Whiteley said: “Excited to sign with Lynn, ready to give it my all, work hard, and make an impact on the pitch.”
