Super One Intermax 950 Kart Champion Jenson Sayell was in action at Whilton Mill’s Kart Club January ‘Warm Up’ at the weekend.Saturday’s four practice sessions went well with the Marshland St James driver third fastest of 21 karts in three of the sessions.Qualifying looked promising but was ultimately disappointing.Having started well Sayell was running out front with another kart, who slowed him down whilst others’ times improved, and he eventually finished 10th.Both heats were dry. In Heat One, the youngster had made up good ground from tenth but was side-swiped completely off the track whilst overtaking on the final lap dropping five places to finish 11th.In Heat Two, Sayell had a great drive up to fifth and was second fastest on track. The final was very wet and windy – Sayell qualified in ninth and made an excellent start and was making up places on the first lap when two karts spun in his path. By the time the karts were untangled and he rejoined, he was almost three-quarters of a lap behind. Showing great pace (third fastest) from last place Sayell managed to make up nine places to finish 15th.“Luck just wasn’t on our side this weekend, although it showed that we had the pace to challenge for a podium,” said his dad Rob.”We will put it behind us and move on to the next round.” Sayell’s next outing will be at Kimbolton for Round Two of the HKRC series in a fortnight.Sayell thanks Force Motorsport for a great engine and his sponsors JLK Vehicle Solutions, Ark East Anglia Ltd, Sun Lounge Tanning Studio, Chris Phillips – Superstox 99, Prestige Designs and Custom Racewear, Synergy Direct and KKC Kart Components.
