Four-some Downham Town stun league leaders

There were wins for all three West Norfolk representatives in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division this afternoon.

The best result of them all perhaps came in Suffolk where Downham Town overturned league leaders Lakenheath 4-2.

After a slow start, Downham took a 2-1 lead into the interval before they killed the game off in the second half.

Matty Prudence, James Moore, Magic Smalls and Jacob White all found the back of the net as Downham extended their unbeaten sequence to nine games.

Downham sit seventh in the league table but are only four points off top spot with games in hand on many of the sides above them.

Heacham also got themselves back on the winning trail with a 2-1 home win against the ten men of Sheringham.

Luke Gray and Fletcher Toll were on target for the Magpies who are now 13th in the league standings.

Heacham boss David Griggs said: “It was a much-needed three points for the lads. We made changes after last week’s defeat to Soham and all of the players in the squad today responded well.

“Luke Gray was powerful up top and Fletcher Toll sealed the win in front of a great crowd of 162.

“Aaron (Watson) didn’t have a save to make other than the goal so defensively we were good.”

A stunning last-minute strike from Louis Henman-Mason was good enough to give Fakenham Town the three points with a 3-2 win over Soham Town Rangers.

Goals from Alex Rodway-Brown and Joe Keeley saw the Ghosts lead 2-1 at the Daly Group Stadium before Henman-Mason’s howitzer clinched a dramatic victory after the visitors had levelled matters early in the second half.

In the First Division North, Swaffham Town’s bad run continued with a 5-0 reverse at Stanway Pegasus.
