As well as attracting serious runners out to smash records and notch up new personal best times, the Bespak GEAR 10K in Lynn is also an important event for fundraisers and newcomers.Members of Dersingham Runners, a free and non-affiliated social running group, were among those taking part for the first time on Sunday.A spokesperson said: “This is the first time we have attended the GEAR run as a group after forming last year and recently celebrating our first anniversary.“There were 18 members who attended GEAR today with many achieving new personal bests. There were varied paces ranging from finishing times of 39 minutes to just over an hour.“Our signature colour is purple and so many of us wore our Dersingham Runners T-shirts, vests and caps that arrived at the start of the year.“Our members travelled from all over to take part in the GEAR run today locally and across counties, the furthest away being Maidstone in Kent.”Members meet for longer group runs on Sundays currently gathering at 8.30am and looking to complete distances of 10K (6.2miles). But the most popular run is on Wednesday evenings when members enjoy shorter distances over 5K (3.1 miles) meeting at 6.15pm.The meeting point for both is The Co-operative Food Store in Dersingham.
