League leaders Downham Stow secured a comprehensive victory against Norwich Cricket Club in the Norfolk Alliance Premier Division.Skipper Pat Yates had no hesitation to bat first after winning the toss on a batting paradise and a hot summer day.His decision was justified with the batting unit clicking throughout the whole innings.Opener Will Denny continued his fine form with a blazing 76.He combined with Pranav Susarla (112) as the pair put on a 158 for the second wicket.Ben Wilcox (32) played a typically classy inning as he and Susarla continued the pressure with a 79-run partnership. The stage was set for a big finish and Arthur Wilcox did exactly that when he arrived in the 44th over. He played a brutal innings with shots all around the ground to finish with 63 from 29 balls. Downham Stow finished with 329 in their 50 overs. The side knew that the wicket was still good so they needed to start well to apply early pressure.Adam Todd and Arthur Wilcox did just that. Todd bowled with incredible poise and Wilcox swung the ball at pace, very unlucky not to pick up a wicket.Todd finished with 3-35 off his 10 and the early damage was done as the run rate was already past 8s. Owen Stacey and Otto Esse picked up a well-deserved two wickets through the middle.Yates picked up the last wicket as Norwich were bowled out for 211.It was a great day for the club as a whole with all four teams winning.
