Local pride will be at stake when Downham Town welcome Heacham to the SCL Memorial Field tonight (7.45pm).
Downham have made a stunning start to the new season and remain unbeaten after their opening nine games in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division.
Heacham have also had a reasonable start to life in the top flight, picking up 11 points from their opening 12 fixtures.
Looking ahead to the derby clash, joint Downham Town boss Craig Dickson said: “Heacham will be Heacham.
“They may not have had the best start to the season but they are starting to pick up points now and pushing up on the table. I’ll always give them credit for what they did last season.
“Although we beat them twice last season, they are the hardest-working team I’ve seen in years and when you work hard you will always be competitive in games of football, so we’re expecting a battle.”
Heacham boss David Griggs is under no illusions about the task facing his side.
Griggs said: “I’m expecting a very tough game as Downham are flying. They are only one of two teams in the league that haven’t lost but its a local derby and anything can happen.
“Our lads will certainly put up a fight and will work hard. If we get anything from the game it is a bonus and then we will turn our attention to the home game against Ely on Saturday.”
