Downham Town continued their upward trend by making it five wins out of six in the Thurlow Nunn Premier Division last night.

A 75th-minute solo goal from Eoin McQuaid was good enough to see them defeat Sheringham 1-0 in a tight affair at the SCL Memorial Field.

The home side had the better of the chances throughout the 90 minutes and were duly awarded with the three points.

After the game, the club Tweeted: “A hard-fought but deserved victory this evening.

“After coming close a few times in the first period, it took a brilliant solo goal by McQuaid to separate the sides and take a well-earned maximum points.”

The win leaves Downham fourth in the league table – four points clear of Mildenhall Town in fifth.

On Saturday, Downham travel to Woodbridge Town.
