Dersingham race ace picks up a hat-trick of wins

Dersingham Honda racer Phil Wright picked up a trio of race wins during the early May bank holiday weekend.

Wright lined up in the Racing Honda Championship at Cadwell Park, in Lincolnshire.

The West Norfolk driver set the quickest time in qualifying with a 1.38.1 – almost two seconds faster than second-place racer Will Murfin mid afternoon on the Sunday.

Starting on pole for the inaugural race, Wright raced away from the lights and lead every lap, crossing the line and taking the first win of the weekend.

Heavy rain overnight washed away the rubber on track which made conditions tricky for some of the other series out on track on the Monday morning.

Wright made his way to the start line just before midday, the track was now dry.

The lights went out but he struggled away from the lights.

Murfin and three other Honda racers made their way past Wright, one of the racers made contact with the front of his car and veered in front of him which caused a huge incident and brought out the red flag.

Luckily, Wright’s civic racer only suffered cosmic damage and he was able to make the restart after the barriers were repaired.

He completed the restart and lead the race to the finish line for his second success of the weekend.

Race Three was delayed but when it did commence, Wright crossed the finish line a huge 23 seconds ahead of Murfin in second place.

Wright is back in action on Saturday, competing in the 750 Motor Club’s hot Hatch Championship at Brands Hatch.

He is supported By Luke Loades of Rounce and Evans Property Management and Jordan Cribb of Vertex Architecture.
