Dersingham Civic racer Phil Wright was crowned champion at his local circuit of Snetterton at the weekend.
The West Norfolk driver took part in the final two rounds of the Racing Hondas Championship, which was run as part of Modified Live Festival at the Norfolk Circuit.
Wright secured pole position by more than half a second in qualifying on Sunday morning.
He launched away from the line at the start of race one but the no 31 car of Murfin managed to sneak past before turn one.
Wright pursued the lead but a red flag on lap three halted his progress.
After the green flag and, with only a few minutes left on the clock, Wright passed Murfin for first place but as he exited the last corner the engine died and he was left stricken at the side of the track.
This resulted in a a DNF and a faulty fuse was later found to be the issue.
In a reverse grid race two and with the fuse replaced, Wright lined up in ninth position one place behind his main class B contender Murfin.
Both made a good start and progressed through a mix of class cars and caught up to the front.
Wright made the pass against Murfin and pulled out a seven-second lead to cross the finish line in first.
This secured the race win along with class and overall championship.
Wright is supported By Luke Loades, of Rounce and Evans Property Management, and Jordan Cribb, of Vertex Architecture. Thanks also go to Selina Automotive and AllSigns.
