King’s Lynn look to put a dent in local rivals Ipswich’s play-off charge when the sides meet at the Adrian Flux Arena tonight (7.30pm).The PSH Environmental Stars are necessarily patched-up for the meeting but are tracking the strongest available side, and they go into the contest with plenty of confidence from recent home results. The Witches have made no secret of their recent enjoyment of trips to Norfolk, where they have had plenty of league success in recent years, but they did suffer a heavy 53-37 defeat at Leicester last time out.The Stars’ injury problems increased last week when Benjamin Basso crashed out of the loss at Sheffield. The Dane would have been ruled out on Thursday in any case due to concussion, but a shoulder injury also sidelines him although it is hoped that this is not a long-term issue, and that he will be able to resume at some stage in early August.Rider replacement will be in operation for Basso, which means all members of the team are entitled to an extra ride, whilst the Stars have called up Lewis Kerr and Zach Cook as guests.Kerr, who of course has a lengthy history in Lynn colours, rides at No.1 as their ‘no facility’ stand-in for Tobiasz Musielak, whilst Cook comes in for Nicolai Klindt – and although, like Kerr, he is not currently part of a Premiership line-up, he hit double figures on Monday when standing in for former club Birmingham. Ipswich also operate rider replacement for Jason Doyle with the Witches’ No.1 sidelined for the rest of the season with a shoulder injury after his crash in their previous visit to the AFA. Elsewhere, the Witches welcome back Dan Thompson after a brief absence with his own shoulder problem, and they have juggled their riding order presumably in a bid to match up with the Stars, as top man Emil Sayfutdinov lines up at No.3.King’s Lynn operations manager Dale Allitt said: “We all know the difficulties that exist with finding guests when there are six teams in action on the same night, and our situation is fairly extreme in that we have three spaces to fill.“There are other injuries and riders unavailable elsewhere, so in the circumstances, we’ve got the strongest line-up we can, and we’d like to thank Lewi and Zach for stepping in and we wish them well. “Ipswich is always a tough meeting, we know what a good record they have around here, but we’ve dug deep at home before and we’ve been on a good run lately, so if we can score right down the team we can still pull off a result.”There is also a bonus second-half schedule with nine extra races for supporters to enjoy, featuring two groups of 500cc riders including new sensation William Cairns, and some of the sport’s top 250cc youngsters. King’s Lynn: Lewis Kerr, Benjamin Basso r/r, Jan Kvech, Niels-Kristian Iversen, Zach Cook, Patryk Wojdylo, Anders Rowe.Ipswich: Jason Doyle r/r, Adam Ellis, Emil Sayfutdinov, Dan Thompson, Danny King, Keynan Rew, Jordan Jenkins.
