King’s Lynn favourite Niels-Kristian Iversen summed up a mood of frustration after a potentially huge result at Ipswich on Monday slipped way.PSH Environmental Stars were firmly on course for a massive upset midway through the Bank Holiday fixture at Foxhall, as they led the all-conquering Witches 24-18.Home fans were stunned by what they were seeing as their side had rattled off huge victories in each of their previous outings in their own track this season. But that was as good as it got for the Stars, as the second half of the meeting proved to be one-way traffic.Ipswich outscored Lynn by a massive 22 points over the last eight races to win 53-37 and it left the Stars camp with head-scratching to do as they looked to work out how the match had turned around.Iversen said: “We pushed them up to halfway through, but they just proved to be too strong for us towards the end of the meeting.“What can you say? The track was a little bit different today, it was a day meeting and it was extremely slick towards the end, and they adapted better than we did. “But the track is the same for everyone so it’s not an excuse, it’s just that they adapted better, and the way we ended the meeting is a bit disappointing to be honest. “We pushed them and we gave them a good run, especially in the first half of the meeting, but as we got towards the end they seemed to be dialled in and we didn’t, and that was the difference.”Iversen says he’s largely satisfied with his own form in the early weeks of 2025, where he has provided a solid scoring presence in the Lynn middle-order.He said: “I think it’s been mainly positive. I’ve had a few meetings where it’s not been going as I want, but I think in general it’s been okay and there is still room for some improvements. “If I can put another point or a point and a half on my average from here then I think I should be happy, it can get a bit better.”Lynn have no meeting this coming Monday although Chris Harris is in action at Belle Vue in the British Final, and their Premiership season resumes next Thursday (May 15) with an important trip to Leicester. Meanwhile the Young Stars look to continue their excellent start to the season with their own visit to the East Midlands on Sunday.Jason Pipe’s team have already won home and away against Birmingham in the National Development Trophy to establish themselves as early favourites for the competition. They travel to the Hydroscand Arena to face a Leicester Fox Cubs team who got off the mark with a victory against Birmingham last week, and the meeting will feature a clash of the sport’s two ultra-talented 15-year-olds, Cooper Rushen for the Young Stars up against Will Cairns for the Cubs.
