King’s Lynn captain Nicolai Klindt says consistency is the key to success – something the team have been notably lacking in so far this season.Last Monday’s home defeat to Sheffield left the Stars playing catch-up in the race for the Premiership play-offs, whilst an opportunity to hit back with an away win at Birmingham this week was wrecked by the Bank Holiday weather.Lynn now take a break from league racing until mid-June as the KO Cup takes centre stage, with a mouthwatering semi-final clash against local rivals Ipswich coming next week.Stars stage the first leg at the Adrian Flux Arena on Monday and could well have a fighting chance against injury-hit opponents, but Klindt says it simply has to be an all-round performance. He said: “We’ve been unfortunate at times this season, but the bottom line is we’re too much up and down.“All of our riders really will win by a mile and then we finish last, and that’s not good enough.“It’s frustrating for Rob (Lyon) because he’s the tactician behind it all, but it’s difficult for him when to put riders in. “We need everyone to be consistent, and that’s been our problem so far this year. We haven’t been consistent enough through and through. “The lack of meetings can always be a hampering factor especially if we go three weeks without a home match like recently, and then the track was a bit different against Sheffield.“It was very nice, though, we can’t fault that at all, and in that meeting they just had Lewi Kerr at the end of the day!“But we certainly want to come back fighting against Ipswich, and get through to the Cup Final. We’ve got to turn things around next week.” New averages for June will see another re-configuration of the Lynn team with Richard Lawson taking over at No.1 whilst Klindt moves back into the top five. The latest rider to have a stint at reserve will be Jan Kvech, and this could be a very powerful weapon for the Stars especially in such a fierce Cup-tie. Ipswich’s injury situation is not completely clear at this stage but they will definitely be without their own free-scoring reserve Dan Thompson who has a broken scaphoid. There is also a major doubt over former World Champion Jason Doyle who stunned the speedway world by returning in just a week from a dislocated hip.But that comeback in Poland ended in another crash and hospital trip as he aggravated the injury, and the Witches may well be without him again next week.
