A West Norfolk football scheme is celebrating a major accolade after winning the Norfolk FA Lionesses Award for the best girls’ football programme in Norfolk.King’s Lynn Community Football, which has been nurturing talent for more than 25 years, has further cemented its reputation as one of the county’s leading football development hubs with its latest success. The award recognises the dedication of the 40 girls currently in the programme, and the tireless efforts of coaches Grant Cotton, Dan Buhlemann, Jan Griffiths, and female coaches Caitlin Jacob and Chloe Moulton. The win is the latest in a string of successes for the scheme.Last year, they were recognised and honoured as the Most Positive Football Environment, and this season saw Harry Collinson named Coach of the Year for male football for his dual role with Dersingham Rovers FC and Lynn Elite U12s.Collinson is currently pursuing his UEFA B Licence, as is Grant Cotton, in a move that promises to raise coaching standards even further.Tommy Goode, head of performance and development at Alive West Norfolk, said: “We are extremely proud of the work we do, especially in developing girls’ football. “Coaches like Grant, Caitlin, Chloe, and Harry represent the high level of talent within our programme, and we’re excited about the future.” Richard Allan, assistant director for leisure and culture at West Norfolk Council, added: “We’re committed to providing football and physical activity opportunities across the borough.”Now that Alive is back within the Borough Council, we’re looking forward to expanding these opportunities even further.”Councillor Simon Ring, deputy leader of the council and portfolio holder for leisure, praised the community impact, saying: “It’s fantastic to see football thriving in our area. “The recognition from Norfolk FA reflects the outstanding work being done, particularly in girls’ football.”Player evaluations for the next season will take place during the first week of June.
